Antonio Attolini Lack

 

ANTONIO ATTOLINI LACK

(1931 – 2012)

 

Antonio Attolini Lack graduated with honors from the faculty of architecture at the National University, UNAM, and joined the studios of two of the most famous early-20th Century Mexican architects, Francisco Artigas, who introduced the modernist style of architecture in Mexico, and Manuel Parra, one of the authors represented in our catalogue at Clásicos Mexicanos. Attolini’s architecture is undoubtedly informed by the work of Luis Barragán, as was that of Ricardo Legorreta, but unlike them, Attolini´s interiors were radically sparse and devoid of unnecessary elements. This bare-bones approach translated to his furniture design, an almost DIY series of pieces that sit on the fence between monastic simplicity and Bauhaus design.
